A Warwick resident, Jeffrey Locke Slinn, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for attempting to entice a minor and transmitting obscene material to a minor. The sentencing took place in federal court in Rhode Island, as announced by Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom.

U.S. District Court Judge Melissa R. DuBose ordered that Slinn, age 43, will also serve 15 years of supervised release following his imprisonment. Slinn pleaded guilty on October 30, 2023, to charges of attempted enticement of a minor and transfer of obscene material to a minor.

Court documents show that in July 2023, Slinn communicated online with an 11-year-old girl from New Jersey using multiple accounts. During these communications, he attempted to entice the girl into sexual conduct and exchanged sexually explicit images and videos with her.

Slinn was arrested on October 26, 2023 after being charged through a federal criminal complaint.

The prosecution was led by Assistant United States Attorney Julie M. White. The investigation involved the FBI, the Ocean Township Police Department in New Jersey, and the Warwick Police Department in Rhode Island.
