A Warwick resident has pleaded guilty in federal court to charges related to cocaine trafficking, according to an announcement from Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom.
Manuel Jose Miranda, 36, admitted guilt to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine. The case stems from a September 2024 incident when U.S. Postal Inspectors intercepted a package containing two kilograms of cocaine that was addressed for delivery to Miranda’s home. Authorities resealed the package and delivered it through an undercover Postal Inspector while keeping the residence under surveillance.
Law enforcement observed as Miranda retrieved the package from outside his front door. As officers moved in, Miranda attempted to leave on a motorcycle but was stopped by law enforcement. The parcel with the cocaine was found inside his backpack.
Miranda will be sentenced on November 4, 2025. A federal district judge will determine his sentence after reviewing the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other legal factors.
Assistant United States Attorney Peter I. Roklan is prosecuting the case. The investigation involved the United States Postal Inspection Service, Homeland Security Investigation, and the Warwick Police Department.
“Sara Miron Bloom Acting United States Attorney for the District of Rhode Island,” said in her announcement.
