The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Rhode Island will participate in National Night Out events on August 5, 2025, joining law enforcement partners and community members across several cities and towns in the state.

Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom stated, “Each August this Office proudly joins in support of National Night Out, a great opportunity to for law enforcement and the community to gather together and to continue to foster good relationships. We urge all Rhode Islanders to take the opportunity to share a few minutes with your local law enforcement agency at this year’s events.”

National Night Out is a yearly event that aims to strengthen ties between law enforcement agencies and communities. The initiative encourages partnerships that seek safer neighborhoods. Millions of people in thousands of communities across the country participate on the first Tuesday of August.

The program began in 1984 with support from the Bureau of Justice Assistance at the U.S. Department of Justice and is managed by the National Association of Town Watch, a nonprofit group. Local police departments and trained volunteers organize activities such as block parties, safety demonstrations, parades, youth events, and visits from emergency personnel.
