The Rhode Island Supreme Court announced on March 26 that the results of the February 2026 Rhode Island Bar Examination will be released on Friday, April 24, after 1:30 p.m. The announcement was made by Nancy R. Mahoney, Bar Administrator.

The release of bar exam results is a significant event for applicants seeking admission to practice law in Rhode Island. Successful completion of the examination is required before new attorneys can be sworn in and begin practicing.

According to Mahoney, a list of passing applicants and information about the formal group swearing-in ceremony will be posted on the Judiciary’s website under the ā€œNewsā€ link after results are released. Official result letters containing specific scoring details—including written scaled score, Multistate Bar Examination (MBE) scaled score, and total Uniform Bar Examination score—will be mailed via U.S. mail to each applicant’s address provided during application.

Applicants’ statuses will also be updated in the Rhode Island Supreme Court Attorney Portal (RISCAP) dashboard from pending to either pass or fail as appropriate; this update may take several days to implement. In-person group swearing-in ceremonies are scheduled for the week of May 4 at the Supreme Court courtroom located on the seventh floor of Licht Judicial Complex in Providence. Applicants must report to the Clerk’s Office fifteen minutes prior to their assigned time for sign-in and further instructions. The ceremonies are open to the public with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Successful applicants whose Petitions are incomplete will not be sworn in until all requirements are met; they will receive notification if their ability to participate is on hold. Unsuccessful applicants will receive instructions and deadlines for reapplying in their official result letter.

Applicants were reminded that their bar application remains active until they are sworn in and registered with the court, requiring any changes or additions to submitted information through RISCAP.
