The Rhode Island Supreme Court announced on March 30 that it will hold a series of swearing-in ceremonies in April for candidates seeking admission to the state bar through Uniform Bar Examination score transfer.
These ceremonies are important for individuals who have passed the Uniform Bar Examination and wish to practice law in Rhode Island. The events mark the final step before new attorneys can begin their legal careers in the state.
The first ceremony is scheduled for Friday, April 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with Justice William P. Robinson III presiding. Thomas M. Dickinson, Esq., member of the Board of Bar Examiners, and Dana M. Horton, Esq., President-Elect of the Rhode Island Bar Association, will also participate. A second ceremony on the same day at 11:00 a.m. will be led by Justice Erin Lynch Prata along with Michael St. Pierre, Esq., and Horton.
On Monday, April 13, two additional ceremonies are planned: one at 10:00 a.m., overseen by Justice William P. Robinson III with Melissa K. Burnett-Testa, Esq., and Patrick A. Guida, Esq.; and another at 2:00 p.m., led by Justice Melissa A. Long with Willilam J. Conley Jr., Esq., and Guida.
Each ceremony includes a list of candidates who will be admitted to practice law upon completion of the swearing-in process.
These upcoming events highlight an important transition for aspiring lawyers as they formally join Rhode Island’s legal community.
