The Rhode Island Supreme Court announced on April 24 the list of individuals who passed the February 2026 Rhode Island Bar Examination. These candidates must still complete additional requirements before they are eligible to practice law in the state.

Passing the bar examination is a key step for those seeking to become attorneys in Rhode Island. However, successful applicants must also be certified for admission by the Committee on Character and Fitness, take the attorney oath, and register with the Supreme Court prior to being officially admitted.

The pass rate for this administration of the exam was reported at 58 percent. The announcement included a full list of names of those who passed, noting that some are Rule 1A Attorney Admission Candidates as indicated by an asterisk next to their names.

In addition to current results, five-year statistics were provided showing recent trends in pass rates for both February and July examinations. For example, previous February pass rates were listed as follows: 54 percent in 2025, 58 percent in 2024, 44 percent in 2023, 40 percent in 2022, and a high of 65 percent in February of 2021. July exam pass rates have generally been higher during these years.

Candidates will only be able to practice law once all required steps beyond passing the examination are completed.
