A Maine resident, Evert Delgado-Menjivar, 31, has been charged with trafficking multiple kilograms of cocaine that were delivered in Rhode Island. Delgado-Menjivar appeared in federal court in Rhode Island on November 18, 2025, where he was arraigned following an indictment by a Grand Jury. He was ordered to remain in custody, according to Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom.

Delgado-Menjivar was arrested at his home in Westbrook, Maine on September 9, 2025. The indictment includes charges of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine and distribution of cocaine. He also faces two counts of distributing 500 grams or more of cocaine.

According to court documents, members of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) became aware in July 2025 of an individual seeking to sell large quantities of cocaine. In August 2025, a co-defendant allegedly distributed kilogram amounts of cocaine on behalf of Delgado-Menjivar.

“A criminal complaint is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law,” the release states.

The sentence will be determined by a federal district judge after reviewing the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other legal factors.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Stacey A. Erickson is prosecuting the case, which was investigated by the DEA.

This prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration and eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations through coordinated efforts from various task forces within the department.
