An inmate at the Donald W. Wyatt Detention Facility in Central Falls, Rhode Island, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges related to drug trafficking while incarcerated. The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom.

Brian Slutzkin, also known as Lello Brian Bongiorno, age 41, faces charges of possessing contraband in prison and possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute. According to court documents, a search revealed that Slutzkin allegedly concealed a sock containing seven balloons made from latex gloves on his person. The contents of these balloons included powder containing fentanyl, pills with oxycodone hydrochloride and acetaminophen, strips containing buprenorphine and naloxone, as well as marijuana.

“A federal criminal indictment is merely an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty,” the statement noted.

Assistant United States Attorney Ronald R. Gendron is prosecuting the case. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and investigators at the Donald W. Wyatt Detention Facility.
