A Foster man has pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography, according to Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom. John Q. Adams, 36, admitted in court that he downloaded and stored explicit material depicting child sexual abuse on January 13, 2021. The investigation revealed Adams had approximately 112 images and 49 videos of such material.

Adams was previously convicted for sharing sexually explicit photographs with someone he believed to be a minor and attempting to meet the individual for sexual purposes. He is set to be sentenced on October 21, 2025. The sentence will be determined by a federal district judge considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other factors.

Assistant United States Attorney Denise M. Barton is prosecuting the case, which was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the Rhode Island State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the DOJ’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section aimed at combating child exploitation and abuse nationwide.
