A Coventry man has been sentenced to life in prison at the Adult Correctional Institutions after being found guilty of multiple counts of child molestation. The announcement was made by Attorney General Peter F. Neronha.

On November 21, 2025, Superior Court Justice Brian Van Couyghen sentenced David Ouellette, age 66, to life imprisonment plus an additional consecutive sentence of 30 years with 20 years to serve. The court also imposed a no contact order between Ouellette and the victim, required him to register as a sex offender, attend counseling for sex offenders, and be subject to community supervision.

Ouellette was convicted by a jury on September 12, 2025, after a five-day trial that resulted in guilty verdicts on seven counts of first-degree child molestation. The prosecution established that from 1998 to 2002, Ouellette sexually assaulted a juvenile female who was known to him.

Attorney General Neronha stated: “This victim demonstrated incredible bravery in telling her story, which allowed us to achieve justice on her behalf. When victims feel safe in coming forward, perpetrators are held accountable, our communities become safer, and victims themselves can heal. I am grateful to the prosecutors in my office and Coventry Police Department for their great work on this difficult case.”

Coventry Police Chief Benjamin H. Witt added: “I want to thank the young victim in this case for exhibiting great courage throughout the investigation and prosecution of this case. I thank the members of the Coventry Police Department and the Office of the Attorney General who worked hard to ensure the defendant was held accountable.”

The investigation and prosecution were led by Special Assistant Attorneys General Arthur DeFelice and Megan Andrews from the Attorney General’s Office along with Detective Paul G. Pacheco from the Coventry Police Department.
