Bankruptcy court in Rhode Island seeks public input on rule amendments

The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Rhode Island has announced proposed amendments to Local Rule 5071-1 and Appendix III. The court is seeking public input on these changes, with a deadline for comments set for February 11, 2026.

Members of the public can review the proposed amendments and submit their feedback by email to Jonathan_Pincince@rib.uscourts.gov or by mail to Jonathan E. Pincince, Clerk, at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Rhode Island, 380 Westminster St., 6th Floor, Providence, Rhode Island 02903.

According to the court’s announcement: “Pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2071(b), the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Rhode Island invites public comment on the proposed amendments to Local Rule 5071-1 and Appendix III.  Copies of the proposed amendments are available here.”

Unless there are further changes following this comment period, the new rules will take effect on February 13, 2026.
